Why Democrats suck butt

According to David Ignatius, anyway. The elusive Shallow Larynx pointed out just how much attention his recent WaPo op-ed has been getting on the progressive blogs. Matthew Yglesias, for his part, points out the disingenuousness of arguing for Democrats by way of a GOP talking point-- namely, that we "don't have any ideas." As I commisserated with SL, I noted that many prominent Democrats have offered up plenty of proposals on hot-button issues, from Iraq to Social Security. The trouble is that the mainstream press hasn't shared it with the public at large.

But Ignatius was looking for the Democratic agenda, and it's no wonder he didn't find it under the "people" tab on the DNC site because about an inch to its left he would have found the agena [sic] tab. Now even if you do peruse it, you may find that disappointing. This is because the DNC is an organizational and political entity, not a policymaking body. One can see a blogger being confused about this, but not a Washington Post columnist who, surely, could in a pinch have just asked a colleague. The US Senate, as it happens, is a policymaking organization, and the minority website features this ten point agenda.
