Another Republican governeor subpoenaed.

It's a tough week to be a Republican governor-- even in a red state. It was just a few weeks ago that Zell Miller was called on the carpet for swiping tens of thousands of dollars from the governor's entertainment fund, and just two days ago that Ohio Governor Bob Taft was found guilty on four counts of being a phony baloney. Don't even get me started on the Governator. Well, guess what?

Kentucky Governor Ernie Fletcher has been subpoenaed to appear before a special grand jury investigating personnel practices within his administration. . . .

In previous statements, Fletcher declined to say if he would answer questions before the panel or invoke his Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination.

The special grand jury has previously summoned virtually all of Fletcher's top staff.

Thus far, nine current or former members of Fletcher's administration have been indicted on a series of misdemeanor charges alleging violations of the Merit System personnel law.

I'd be surprised if this weren't another 'record' in American history, even if you didn't include Zell Miller in the list-- he's officially a Democrat, but being on the Faux News payroll and a prominent spot in Justice Sunday II: Fundamentalist Boogaloo isn't exactly standard Democrat operating procedure...
