Managing scandals for fun and profit.

Nooooo....... really? This quote is supposed to be from Sean Hannity last night as he commented on the SOTU speech. Part of me thinks it's too mind-bogglingly stupid to be true. The rest of me is too familiar with the droning gasbaggery of right-wing shills to doubt it. I'll update after investigating. In the meantime, let it serve as a watershed moment in ill-conceived attempts at anti-Clinton brinksmanship.

"We can't afford to have the American people lose faith in the government's ability to spearhead an effective scandal. The sheer number of major scandals has gone way up in the past few years—but the level of scandal coordination has remained at Clinton-era levels. The system is obsolete. Plain and simple. I for one applaud Bush for bringing corruption management into the 21st century."

Pointless. Asinine. Self-incriminating. Borderline nonsensical. I wouldn't put any of those characteristics past the O'Reilly/Limbaugh/Hannity crowd (Look. Mom! I'm a cheerleader, just like Bush was!). But this is just too much idiocy for one paragraph.

UPDATE: Indeed, this quote has been pointed out by readers as a satire from The Onion, which I haven't yet read this week. It's a relief, in a way. We'd really be screwed if our citizens took this for political discourse. And you can follow the link at the top to see the article. And in the interest of full disclosure, I corrected a bit of grammar in the original post. Which, if anything, now makes it look even more like I fell for the gag.
