Turning the screws on a free press
Maybe I've been too hard on the media for their docile reaction to the strongarm tactics of this administration. I'm not sure I'd have the guts to keep on keepin' on if I started to get letters from the Eye of Mordor....
The Joint Chiefs of Staff just sent a menacing letter to the Washington Post over a cartoon. AMERICAblog received a copy of the letter at 10AM this morning, but as its veracity was not yet confirmed, we waited until E&P was able to confirm that [it] is for real.
The cartoon that drew the ire of the military? I wouldn't call it anything more than pointed political satire. And very effective, as gallows humor goes (which means I think it's great. I love black humor). Here ya go:
What this piece comes down to is this statement: "The administration isn't being honest about the price of the war in human lives." Any righties out there care to explain why that critique is dangerous for the nation?
