Forbes: blogs are scary monsters coming for your children.

But Forbes is completely retarded. Is that virtual libel? Oh well, no matter. As a progressive blogger, I have no respect for the facts-- just a member of that ol' "online lynch mob." And this is a cover story?

Of course it's a cover story! And it's all about how the reactionary bloggers are allegedly the victims of sociopathic liberals. Behold:

Blogs started a few years ago as a simple way for people to keep online diaries. Suddenly they are the ultimate vehicle for brand-bashing, personal attacks, political extremism and smear campaigns. It's not easy to fight back: Often a bashing victim can't even figure out who his attacker is. No target is too mighty, or too obscure, for this new and virulent strain of oratory.

Wow. Who are the victims of this campaign of political extremism? Not John Kerry, who Matt Drudge accused of having an affair with a young woman and subsequently driving her out of the country.

You might recall the case of the "Schiavo Memo" that emerged from Florida senator Martinez' office earlier this year. The right-wing blogs went from forgery to plant to work of an overzealous staffer on that one-- all were wrong. At least Forbes acknowledges that, although they don't seem to mention that one of their primary sources for the article was at the head of the pack in pushing the phony story. That would be none other than Powerline's John Hinderaker, who writes under the (definitely not gay) pseudonym 'Hindrocket."

Instead, 'Hindrocket' is portrayed as a victim of libelous blogs-- for being attacked over publishing patently false stories such as the much-ridiculed story about gay prostitute turned White House reporter Jim/Jeff Gannon/Guckert.

Hard as it is to imagine that a story appearing in a conservative magazine whose editor in chief is Mr. Flat Tax himself would suggest that poor, defenseless reactionary bloggers are the victims of Oxycontin-abusing, falafel-wielding phone sex enthusiasts on the left, there you have it.
