I could put up links to a couple of annoying New Republic articles in which guest writers defend the guy in the same way that there were some pro-Miers articles. "The record might say one thing, but can we actually predict how they'll vote in the future?" Maybe so, but the argument is being phrased in terms of gambling. And I think I'd rather place my chips on a centrist than a guy with a record of being hard right as long as it's a guessing game. Chalk it up to more of that DLC-style appeasement policy.
