And our survey says...

I'm staying away from polls, by and large, since the next elections are more than a year away. Anything can happen between now and then. However, this struck me as being more noteworthy than most simply because it breaks down Bush's approval ratings by state, and not just party or national results.

Alabama, Idaho, Mississippi, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, Texas, Utah, Wyoming. Only nine states give Bush a rating better than 50%. One is W's adopted state. The other is Cheney's. Alabama and Mississippi are the racist, dirt-poor, snake-handling asshole of the nation (sorry, Bloodmoney), and Idaho and Utah are militia country.

My home state of Missouri, hotly contested in 2000 and 2004, and often touted as "always going with the winner" in presidential elections, did me proud-- only 38% approve of the prez. Not too far off from my current residence of Massachusetts, where 32% approve.

Have a stogie and toast our fellow citizens. You can fool some of them for a while by spending hundreds of millions on propaganda, but most are decent people who still believe in doing what's right.
