More yellow elephantism
After writing about this issue at the end of last week, and pointing out the Young Republican tendency to equate displaying a yellow ribbon with joining the armed forces, this lackluster defense came out from their Grand Panjandrum.
"The childish insults and threatened protests of these leftists reveal ignorance of, and disrespect for, the sacrifice borne by many hosted by the Convention," Taylor continued. "Most of our members either serve, have served, or plan to serve in the United States Armed Forces, or have participated in events or projects supporting the United States Armed Forces. We will not be intimidated."
Incredible, isn't it? Of course, the one thing they can't do is come out and say "As the rightful leaders of this country, we can't be expected to risk our lives in combat."
And they wonder why recruitment is down....
I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one pointing out that their aversion to service isn't cowardice-- it's sanctimonious classism and elitism of the worst sort.
