Klein vs. Hillary: the GOP machine drops the ball
Okay. There's been a ton of stuff written about Ed Klein's book 'The Truth About Hillary.' Most of it bad, and a fair amount of that coming from usually-reliable GOP pundits. Hell, even Bill "Falafel" O'Reilly has distanced himself from the book and its author-- so it's a safe bet that the far right is predicting backlash.
There's good reason for it. Instead of writing about unsupported innuendo, Ed Klein has made the mistake of reporting as fact stories that have long since been debunked. As in debunked twelve years ago.
Hopefully this means that the right-wing establishment is finally nervous enough about its declining cachet with the American public that it's decided to start hedging its bets. Not that sales will be hurt among the faithful.
But here's the reason I'm writing this post. If you have the connection-power to download a 13-meg file, go to the link above and download the June 24 episode of Al Franken's show. Al and guest Joe Conason have Klein on as a guest, and really rake him over the coals-- not with snotty remarks or defamation, but by dismantling his arguments piece by piece armed with nothing but the facts.
The interview doesn't start until about ninety minutes in, but it's an uplifting experience. Check it out.
