Here comes the Supreme Court battle
Sandra Day O'Connor has just announced that she's stepping down. So we're looking at a minimum of two reactionary appointments. Braces yourselves for the fight, and keep the pressure on your senators.
Take note: a Republican 527 group is ALREADY making ads about Democrats being obstructionists who'll block anybody. Bush is ALREADY talking about the importance of a quick vote on his nominee. This is going to be a long, hard fight with consequences that will last for decades. It's pretty much a given that Fearless Leader is going to nominate a reactionary, evangelical, corporatist judicial activist. Get ready to write letters, donate to Democratic groups like MoveOn, and otherwise join the fight. It's going to be a big one. And don't for a second let DLC or Blue Dog Democrats on Capitol Hill waffle and talk compromise on this issue. Support for the administration and the GOP is dropping, and we're only going to win by fighting.
