Dead soldier's mom vows to take down Bush

Cindy Sheehan's son died in Iraq during the early stages of the war. She spoke on Monday in Lexington, Kentucky, to express her support for the troops and her opposition to the policies of the administration.

Her commitment to this administration?

"Beating a political stake in your black heart will be the fulfillment of my life."

Must-read, must-circulate story. THIS is how mothers react to the death of their children, and they have every reason to do so. You don't hear stories like this about World War II, because people were proud to sacrifice and serve for a just cause. And we all feel that way-- liberals and conservatives alike. We still show our pride every Memorial Day, to express our gratitude for those who willingly joined the fight against totalitarianism and imperialism in the 1940s. The president of the United States disgraced us by drawing comparisons between the war in Iraq and our goal in World War II during his recent trip to Europe close to the fiftieth anniversary of the D-Day invasion of Normandy. We experienced a massive loss of human life, but the record shows that our intelligence was correct, and that we chose the right place and the right time to launch a massive offensive against the real forces of evil. And although our veterans voice their regret that such a war took place, I have yet to hear one voice regret that he stood under the banner of our nation against fascist empires.

It isn't our duty to lay down our lives for the maxim "my country right or wrong." We're supposed to be better than that. And now is the time that we can demonstrate our commitment to real American values. Visit the website of the Gold Star Families for Peace. Donate, express your support, and help fight against this administration's eagerness to unilaterally take our country to war against an imaginary enemy.
