"I'm a War President."

After looking at this must-read piece from the Guardian, you'll never think about Fearless Leader's statement the same way. According to the article:

"In the few weeks before its fall, Iraq's Ba'athist regime made a series of increasingly desperate peace offers to Washington, promising to hold elections and even to allow US troops to search for banned weapons. But the advances were all rejected by the Bush administration, according to intermediaries involved in the talks."

If this all checks out, this story would be enough to topple a presidency. I'll bet you twenty bucks we never hear any more about it. Please? I could really use the money.
