The Pushover Principle (or, Dopey Joe Rides Again!)

Somebody needs to tell Joe Lieberman that privatization is a bad idea. So bad that it'll cost the taxpayers trillions of dollars before it makes anyone a dime. The public doesn't like it. Democrats don't like it. Even Republicans are afraid to back the president's latest sop to Corporate America.
So what in the world is he thinking by playing the mediator? Cutting deals with this administration doesn't make you a smart politician-- it makes you a sucker.

Judging from last week's New Republic, they're still convinced that the DLC has all the answers. Here's some proof that they're wrong.
