Goss replacement more of the same from White House

Over the course of the weekend it's gone from rumor to fact. This morning Major General Michael Hayden confirmed that he's the man. No one seems to be pleased but the White House.

1. As many politicians on both sides are noting, putting a military leader in charge of a civilian intelligence agency has some pretty distubring implications.

2. Especially when this particular military man was "the point man on the president's warrantless spying program."

It'll be interesting to see how many Republicans openly oppose this nomination. The White House has picked a staunch loyalist, as they always do, but given these two concerns and the horrid approval ratings for White House and Congress, the "up or down vote" refrain might not be as loud this time.
