UAE cures Bush's headache
Dubai Ports World has decided to give up their port holdings in the US. This is good news for the White House, because they've been saved another public relations disaster. On a sad note, we now have to listen to Republican congressmen crow about their committment to national security and willingness to stand up to the president. They'll be flogging that horse right through the November elections. Note to Democrats: ask them why the GOP blocked three proposals to increase port security funding under Bush, and watch them squirm.
Sen. John Warner (R-Va.) announced on the Senate floor shortly before 2 p.m. that Dubai Ports World would "transfer fully the operations of U.S. ports to a U.S. entity." Warner, who had been trying to broker a compromise on the issue, said DP World would divest itself of U.S. interests "in an orderly fashion" so as not to suffer "economic loss."

It was not immediately clear how the divesture would be handled or what U.S. company would take over the operation.
Let me just make a wild guess: Halliburton.
