The footage reveals another fatal flaw in the defense of the White House mounted by the right-wing pundits: the argument that it was entirely the fault of Louisiana state officials. While they might not have come up with an ideal response, Bush is heard to specifically reassure Louisiana that the federal government has the situation well in hand.
August 29, 2005: "We are fully prepared."
September 1, 2005: "I don't think anyone anticipated the breach of the levees."
