The week in inappropriate remarks
I've noted that there was plenty of right-wing outrage over comments made by speakers at the funeral of Coretta Scott King. Considering that she devoted her life to political activism-- more specifically battling against racism, poverty and war-- it didn't seem out of line for speakers to talk about the importance of continuing to fight against racism, poverty and war. Nevertheless, a legion of reactionary pundits gabbled and gaped as though an anarchist had crashed the Ladies' Garden Club and crapped on the finger sandwiches.
You probably won't hear the same outrage expressed over the keynote speech at this week's Conservative Political Action Conference, attended by the likes of Dick "Dick" Cheney and Senate Majority Leader Bill "Video Diagnosis/Insider Trading" Frist.
The speech was given by no less an intellectual giant than Ann "Man" Coulter, who used the opportunity to deliver racial slurs and assassination jokes to thunderous applause.
A few highlights:
I think our motto should be post-9-11, 'raghead talks tough, raghead faces consequences.'
There is more dissent on a slave plantation then amongst moderates in the Republican party. (Remember all that outrage at Hillary Clinton for using the word plantation a few weeks ago?)
If we find out someone is going to attack the Supreme Court next week, can't we tell Roberts, Alito, Thomas and Scalito?
Oh, wow! No mas! My sides are literally splitting! Wotta riot! But I'll pull myself together and use this opportunity to promote the Sandwich Doctrine, which states that Democrats should start fighting unfunny right-wing comedians and bellicose right-wing blowhards with comedy. Seriously, does anyone think that Coulter or Hannity could last one round with Jon Stewart or Bill Maher? In this election cycle, Demcrats need to hire themselves a politicall-minded comedian (95% of whom will be liberals) and arm themselves with some killer material. And I don't mean killer in the Coulter sense of "funny" quips about murdering your opponents.
