Code Blue in Missouri

This encouraging post from Daily Kos covers some articles on special elections that were recently held in Missouri-- and the news was fantastic for Democrats. (Also keep in mind my recent post about Charlie Cook and others conservatively predicting good results for Dems this year.)

My home state is one which people love to include in the formulation "As X goes, so goes the nation." And whether you buy that or not, Missouri politics have been eerily similar to national politics for the last decade. All the disturbing issues on the national level-- big corporate money, cronyism, the mobilization of the religious right, the marginalization of the working class-- appear on a smaller scale in Missouri.

But if these elections are any indication of what's to come in November, it's going to be a grim year for the GOP, because even very conservative districts are clearly up for grabs.

Highly recommended reading, even for non-Misourians.
