Bitter Fruit
This is a moving and insightful photo essay with commentary by photographer Paul Fusco. He's doing something that precious few are-- photographing the funerals of soldiers who died in Iraq and the effect it has on American families.
Very well done, and a haunting look at the war that the mainstream press acknowledges doesn't have much of an impact on the lives of typical Americans because they don't have a palpable stake in the war itself. The continued tax cuts see to that. But as the photographer points out several times, we just aren't seeing the human face of this war-- and out of sight is out of mind.
Highly recommended.
