Another trip to the bottomless well

No matter how many times G-Dub reassures us that his administration was a well-intended dupe of evil intelligence analysts, it just isn't getting any more plausible.

But we got yet another avalanche of the same old talking points. "The Dems saw the same intelligence I did." Not true. They saw what the White House released, minus all those pesky doubts about veracity.

"Less than utter resolve emboldens the enemy." As oppsed to the billions of reconstruction dollars that haven't been used for reconstruction? Images of Iraq's liberators abusing Iraq's citizens? Continuing a military policy that isn't securing the country?

"Iraq is the central front in the War on Terror." Well, it may be now that we've inspired so many to join the insurgency. It certainly wasn't when we invaded.

Even Bush's weasely use of a quote of a quote by Kerry demonstrates his mendacity:

He quoted from Kerry's 2002 Senate speech in supporting the use of force if necessary to disarm Saddam Hussein, based on charges that Saddam possessed weapons of mass destruction. No such weapons were ever found.

Kerry, Bush said, backed the president "because I believe that a deadly arsenal of weapons of mass destruction in his hand is a threat and a grave threat to our security."

Well, that's true. In fact, a deadly arsenal of weapons in many countries' hands is a threat. But Kerry didn't say "the" arsenal, indicating that he supported an invasion if it was the case that Saddam had those weapons. Which he didn't. Just as the weapons inspectors and the IAEA claimed-- but the White House ignored.

In short, Fearless Leader has got a lot of crust to use Veterans Day to sell the war even as his party has repeatedly cut veterans' benefits. Shameless.
