God Told Me To....

Boy, I hope this isn't true. Having a leader who takes orders from a voice in his head is no way run a superpower.

President George W. Bush allegedly told Palestinian ministers that God had told him to invade Afghanistan and Iraq - and create a Palestinian State, the BBC will report in a program slotted to run Oct. 17, Raw Story can reveal. (. . .)

[Palestinian] Foreign Minister Shaath declares: "President Bush said to all of us: 'I'm driven with a mission from God. God would tell me, "George, go and fight those terrorists in Afghanistan." And I did, and then God would tell me, "George, go and end the tyranny in Iraq …" And I did. And now, again, I feel God's words coming to me, "Go get the Palestinians their state and get the Israelis their security, and get peace in the Middle East." And by God I'm gonna do it.'"

Prime Minister Mazen recounts how President Bush told him: "I have a moral and religious obligation. So I will get you a Palestinian state."

Now how about these fun possibilities:

"God told me to cut taxes for rich Americans."

"God told me to pay for hurricane reconstruction taking benefits from the poor and elderly."

"God told me to put a million families into poverty."

I could go on, but I wouldn't want to sound too shrill or anything. Oh, and fifty bonus points for anyone who can identify the source of that title.
