Only non-risk parishes declared part of Katrina emergency
There are certainly some on the left who suspect the response to Katrina of being an example of insidious racism by the administration. There are also those on the right who are accusing Louisiana politicians of plotting "genocide." (No, I'm not making that up.) I'm still more inclined to chalk it up to staggering incompetence and the primacy of ideology in this administration. After all, we've been hearing since 9/11 stories of the GOP allotting massive amounts to homeland security funding to sparsely-populated red states that most terrorists have never even heard of.
But it's now been shown that in the run-up to Katrina, Bush's declared federal emergency in Louisiana only applied to the north end of the state. I don't need to point out that Katrina came from the south.
Thanks to the mysterious Cipher for bringing this latest bit of lunacy to my attention. I'm going to have to watch that Cheney footage again and try to forget about it.
