Govt agency directs Katrina donations to Pat Robertson
I continue to look at the right-wing blogs to watch their reaction to the hurricane, and although many have stepped up to the plate and started calling for donations, the only conclusion I've really reached is that the right-wing blogosphere is much, much farther to the right than the liberal blogosphere is to the left. You aren't going to see any sympathetic reporting on the plight of those trapped in New Orleans, but you'll see plenty of attacks on liberals for "playing politics" with the disaster. Shameful. And my observations yesterday on the four lines of argumentation righties are using still stand. How can anyone still be talking about "politicizing" this issue?
Moving on. FEMA listed 'suggested charities' on their official site, and just below the Red Cross is an outfit called "Operation Blessing." The group is chaired by Pat Robertson, his wife is the vice president, and his son is on the board. I've no doubt that they could do some good in New Orleans, but should a government site be putting them on a par with the Red Cross, just a week after Robertson called for government-sponsored assassination?
