Drop the Evian, or I shoot!
Several right-wing blogs are flexing their virtual muscles over this looting in New Orleans business. One at least has the good grace to say that people shouldn't be shot on sight for taking water or food. Another says that some of the "human scum" in New Orleans need to be put down like dogs, period. So what if there isn't a store open for business within twenty miles? Theft is theft!
But what happens when things have devolved to the point where even the (overworked and understaffed) police are taking what they can? From Crooks and Liars:

What the righties fail to acknowledge is that this isn't a matter of "coddling criminals." The entire city is a lawless, steaming swamp, choked with human corpses and sewage, in which people are living like shipwrecked sailors. And these guys are tearing their hair out over people swiping stereos. Congratulations, you pricks. I hear that Fox News coverage of the disaster is in fact focusing on looting. Gotta keep the neo-fascists riled up somehow, right? The blank, shocked expressions of tens of thousands of refugees just won't cut it.
And think about that phrase: 'American refugees.' Talk about two words I never thought I'd hear in the same breath.
