Clinton Takes Action

I saw a few minutes of Headline News today, and happened to catch something so irritatingly typical of the GOPs tactics that I had to share it. As you know, W was on vacation when the tsunami disaster struck. Bill Clinton made a statement about the necessity of helping the victims. While W was STILL on vacation, and hadn't made any statement at all, Scott McClellan took the time to tell the press that he was embarrassed by Clinton's supposed grandstanding. Then came the embarrassment over the US offer of aid. $4 million was ridiculed. $15 million sneered at. $35 million frowned upon. $350 million, they then decided, would be enough to shut the critics up-- even though it's peanuts in terms of the annual budget.

OK. So McClellan adopts the "let's blame Clinton" strategy, and then the administration is embarrassed (again!) in front of the world.

Now, here's what I saw on CNN. Footage of a ceremony featuring W, Poppy, and Clinton. The commentator is saying "Former presidents Bush and Clinton, at the urging of W, volunteered to spearhead the American relief effort."

If you can't blame Clinton, pretend that you were responsible for his actions! And the pliant media is always willing to play along. So Clinton 'volunteered,' but it was all 'at the urging' of Bush. Not only is that NOT an example of volunteering, but Clinton was on the move while W was still on vacation.

And on top of all that, W's handlers have FINALLY realized that this is a great photo-op. So who do they send? His dad and his brother. This is the absolute height of shameless douchebaggery.
