Saturday on the media
Following the news this week has left me feeling kind of filthy. And since it was all so incredibly negative, in need of a break. Expect light posts this weekend while I recharge.
In the meantime, you can look back over Jamison Foser's recent columns at Media Matters. I completely agree that progressives are in trouble as long as the media continues to acquiesce to conservative criticism ("Media bad! Media bad!") and, ironically, to dismiss our criticism as radical and angry. The willingness of the press to pounce on Bill Clinton, Al Gore, Howard Dean and John Kerry was inexcusable, but it's the norm. And at a time when the press is increasingly coming under the control of a few small corporations, it isn't going to be easy to change.
