Bush in Cleveland to spin, spin, spin on Iraq
Ohio isn't a good place for an aspiring Republican politician to be these days. State and national officials have been hounded by scandal from America's least popular governor, Bob Taft, to the tainted representative and DeLay crony Bob Ney. It isn't surprising that no prominent Ohio politicians attended Bush's speech. They have nothing to gain from being tied to the president, but everything to lose. Especially when Bush uses the appearance to claim he never, never linked Iraq and 9/11.
Bush today: First, just if I might correct a misperception, I don’t think we ever said – at least I know I didn’t say that there was a direct connection between September the 11th and Saddam Hussein.
Bush on March 21, 2003 (Happy anniversary, you moron!): The use of armed forces against Iraq is consistent with the United States and other countries continuing to take the necessary actions against international terrorists and terrorist organizations, including those nations, organizations or person who planned, authorized, committed, or aided the terrorist attacks that occurred on September 11, 2001.
Once again, the question has to be asked: is he lying, or just rock-stupid? Or both. That's always an option.
