Campaign to Defend the Constitution
Physicist Robert Parks had this in his newsletter yesterday:
A group of the nation's leading scientists, clergy and legal scholars announced the formation of the Campaign to Defend the Constitution, an online grassroots movement to combat the threat posed by the religious right to American democracy, public education and scientific leadership.
Here's what the group says on their homepage:
DefCon is an online grassroots movement combating the growing power of the religious right. We will fight for the separation of church and state, individual freedom, scientific progress, pluralism, and tolerance while respecting people of faith and their beliefs.
Sounds pretty good to me-- and that's quite a coalition. I'll be keeping my eye on these folks, and pass on news of interest. Why not drop by the site yourself?
