Goodbye to private accounts.

It sounds like Fearless Leader has finally come to the conclusion that everyone else has always known-- the public doesn't want to pay trillions for the dismantling of Social Security. And it only took 70-odd staged events and several million tax dollars! What a bargain!

"You can solve the solvency issue without personal accounts," Bush said in an interview with the Radio-Television News Directors Association.

This coming from the guy who says we'll neither cut benefits nor raise taxes. What a dick!

UPDATE: I meant to include this in the original post, but the phone rang, and I got all mixed up. The thing we have to remember is that the GOP agenda still includes the destruction of Social Security. And the moment you hear a report of a Democratic senator or Congressman talking about "compromise on Social Security," it's essential that you call that individual and demand that he or she deny Bush even an inch of ground on this issue. There's no reason to compromise on a proposal that the vast majority of Americans oppose, and no reason to cave in. And I'm behind that statement 100 percent. Social Security is almost the only thing we do as a nation to protect the innocent from living in poverty. And we have to fight for it. I'm not a Socialist, but like millions of other Americans, I've had my fill of hearing from proud "Christians" who wage war against the downtrodden.
