Fighting fundamentalism the old-fashioned way.
This article (online only) from The New Republic isn't great, but it's good to hear another voice stating the obvious: the GOP has been hijacked by theocrats. The creepiest part is a quote from one of the fundamentalists leaders, George Grant.
"Christians have ... a holy responsibility to reclaim the land for Jesus Christ--to have dominion in civil structures. ... Not just a voice. It is dominion we are after. Not just influence. It is dominion we are after. Not just equal time. It is dominion we are after. ... Thus, Christian politics has as its primary intent the conquest of the land--of men, families, institutions, bureaucracies, courts, and governments for the Kingdom of Christ."
I hope the Republicans will pay a high priceat the polls for their allegiance with these anti-American bigots. What I'd really like to see is some religious leaders speaking out against this madness.
