The Party of America
I heard this info on the Ed Schultz today. He closed by saying that House republicans supported two measures this week:
1. Repealing the Estate Tax. They pitch it as a benefit for family farms and small businesses. Actually, it will put an additional $200,000,000,000 in the p0ckets of the wealthiest 0.3% of Americans.
2. Cutting Veterans' Benefits. The week of the Schiavo farce, the GOP approved a budget that dropped all funding for treatment of veterans with traumatic head injuries. This measure simply peels $2 billion away from health care for servicemen and women.
Yep, they have their priorities straight. Take $2 billion away from those who've served in Republican wars while giving 100 times that amount to the richest Americans.
That's why I no longer hesitate to refer to 21st century Republicans as fascists. Concentrate power and wealth among the already wealthy and powerful. At the same time, shift the burden to the working class and military. And when they start to wise up, stoke the fires of nationalism by blaming some shadowy enemy for their woes.
And it's misdirection as usual for the right-wing pundits, now falsely claiming that Kerry 'outed' a covert agent during the Bolton hearings. Sorry, guys, Bob Novak's still the only one who's done that.
