Ignorance-only education doesn't work

I couldn't help but notice that this article about American teens' risky sexual behavior doesn't even mention Bush's moronic insistence on funding "abstinence-only" sex-ed programs. It's no surprise that the bluenoses of the fundamentalist right think teaching kids about preventing STDs encourages lascivious, Bacchanalian orgies. Unfortunately, it's also no surprise that they could care less about rising numbers of people infected with disease, increased abortion rates, rising numbers of unwed mothers and attendant poverty, and increased demands on the healthcare system, which would lead to even higher prices.

At the same time, I can't resist making the joke that many others before me have made: apparently my high school experience sucked.
