For a while there, military commanders were beginning to talk about troops reductions. Pundits were suggesting that Bush could start initiating a phase-out prior to the election. That doesn't seem to be the case anymore, as the title of this WaPo article observes ( '06 cuts in Iraq troops unlikely).
But the money quote comes from General John Abizaid, who's toed the administration line all along. It isn't reassuring.
