BROWN ALERT: "white Christians who hold power" in danger!

When right-wing kook John Gibson used his Fox anchordom to exhort white Americans to have more babies on May 11, I naively thought it might be a fluke-- right down to his conveniently uncited population statistics. His nutty assertion that it was a civic duty to maintain a white majority in America was just too much, even for right-wing media, right?

Well, crown me fool, because right-wing shills seem to have latched on to the argument whole-hog. It was no surprise that in addition to gays, the GOP has decided this election should hinge on whipping up anti-immigrant sentiment-- wait, scratch that. It's more accurate to say anti-Mexican sentiment. After all, no one's talking about the Australian threat, or the Korean threat. And there's even going to be a major debate on flag-burning in June. Bet you can't guess which party is addressing that major threat to national security... But I didn't expect GOP operatives to start appealing to racism, homophobia, and nationalism this far in advance of the mid-terms.

On to the Media Matters piece. On the face of it, Bill O'Reilly warning of the dangers of multi-culturalism is anything but surprising. What is shocking is his assertion that A) America is controlled by white Christians (which goes against decades of 'secular Hollywood conspiracy' propaganda, and his own more recent war on Christmas/Easter tirades), and B) a less-white power structure is dangerous to the nation.

O'REILLY: Now in 1986, President Reagan thought he could solve the [immigration] problem by granting about 3 million illegal aliens amnesty. The New York Times was in heaven, editorializing back then, quote, "The new law won't work miracles but it will induce most employers to pay attention, to turn off the magnets, to slow the tide." Of course, just the opposite happened. But the Times hasn't learned a thing. That's because the newspaper and many far-left thinkers believe the white power structure that controls America is bad, so a drastic change is needed.

This can only happen if demographics change in America.According to the lefty zealots, the white Christians who hold power must be swept out by a new multicultural tide, a rainbow coalition, if you will.

An open-border policy and the legalization of millions of Hispanic illegal aliens would deeply affect the political landscape in America. That's what The New York Times and many others on the left want. They might get it. And that's the "Memo."

Okay, so the idea is that of threatening influx of non-whites/non-Christians. But Mexico's population is 96%* Christian-- that's right, it's a more Christian society than the US (at 84%). So if we can assume that 96% of Mexican immigrants are Christians, then the actual issue can't be religion, because they'd be adding to the numbers. Which leaves race. Have a happy election season. It's really going to be a treat-- like a veritable year of Willie Hortons.
